The years fly by like fallen leaves. All is darkness.
All is silence. You stand guard before the sarcophagus, neither thinking nor breathing—such is your instinct. You no longer remember your name, but you continue to watch. The flesh has fallen from your bones, but you continue to watch.
And then one day, there is light and movement, and you weigh your bearded axe and raise your shield, eager for battle, impatient to test your skill against these bloodthirsty grave-robbing children.
You will never be alive again, but in that moment, amidst the chaos of desecration and destruction, you truly live; you remember who you once were, and you savor the sun.
It is dark… everything is silent and cold… it all seems to last an eternity. Suddenly, the Game Master turns the lights back on—intruders have just entered the tomb!
The Skeletons also invites you to reflect, after each event, on what happened to your character in life, to discover their story, the reason for their eternal life.
The skeletons offered are varied: war hero, former ruler, high priest, sacred stag, Frankenstein-like creature… depending on the description and the questions you answer, you will create your past.
There isn’t really a game system or dice involved; the idea is to imagine even how the intrusions unfold! At the start of the game, imagine the place you’re guarding, going so far as to draw a map of it. Then, between events, the GM will turn off the lights and invite you to remain silent for a period of time, depending on how much time has passed!
Melancholic, introspective, and spanning several eras, a role-playing game in the truest sense of the word—highly original and genuinely refreshing.
Les Squelettes is unlike any other game you’ve ever played.
