Wargames Illustrated WI462 June 2026 Edition

Description

What's in the June 2026 issue of Wargames Illustrated?

QUICK FIRE
Nick Gander and Martin Brown tell us about an intriguing British Civil War campaign their wargames group has been running, set in their home county of Yorkshire.

FRAME FOCUS: BLOOD ON THE SANDS
In this painting guide Chris Peach paints the gladiators from this month’s Freebie Frame, showing a speedy tabletop ready approach, then an enhanced version.

RELEASE RADAR
Dom Sore highlights some of the most interesting new releases in our hobby.

THEME: ASSASSINS AND TEMPLARS IN THE HEART OF MOSUL
In 1126, a team of Nizari Assassins struck in the heart of Mosul, killing the powerful Seljuk commander al-Bursuqi. The attack shocked the Islamic world and demonstrated both the reach and ruthlessness of the medieval Nizaris. Following the history of this infamous ‘hit’, drawn from Steve Tibble’s book Assassins and Templars: A Battle in Myth and Blood, Mike Peters presents a scenario for Assassins and Templars: A Ruckus Game.

SHOW REPORT: SALUTE 53
We’ve jostled and shouldered our way through the crowds to bring you our annual report on Europe’s biggest wargaming show.

THEME: MURDER FOR HIRE
As part of this month’s Business of Blood theme, Pete Brown presents a short campaign of Old West hired guns and homesteaders in The Johnson County War.

RECREATING SWORD BEACH
Paul and Neil, from Milton Hundred Wargames Club, share how they created their award-winning WWII Normandy landing table.

THEME: SPILLING BLOOD FOR THE QUEEN, AND COIN FOR THE CARDINAL
Roger Gerrish combines this month’s Business of Blood theme with a fascination for The Three Musketeers and a fondness for micro-skirmish rules En Garde!

GEORGE GUSH: IN MEMORIAM
Andrew Finch presents a dedication to George Gush; one of the founding fathers of our hobby.
