GEM, an auction game from the Nanogame series

Buy, activate, spend, optimize! In Nanogame GEM, there’s no room for error, and every choice must be carefully considered to secure a majority in as many gem types as possible.

In this collection game, players must win auctions to obtain gems.

In each round, players participate in several auctions, but each time they make only a single bid (one round of bidding) to choose one of the gem cards.

The first player places a bid (0 or more) without revealing which gem they are interested in among those that have been revealed.

In a bidding round, each player makes only one bid in a clockwise direction.

This bid must be higher than the previous one and must be paid with the player’s available coins or gems.

The player must be able to pay the bid amount. A player may “pass” on a bid and participate in the next one in the same round.

Contents:

  • 12 coin cards (4 of 3 types)
  • 18 gem cards (6 of each color)
