Converge: Catalysts of Change, a multi-use micro card game
On the dying planet of Malvios, where the suns are fading, two players control rival factions recruiting experts (Archivists, Mechanists, Alchemists) to seize control of a mysterious Artifact capable of saving their people. The game's originality lies in the multiple uses of its 18 cards: each one can be played as a team member for its value and power, placed in the center of the table as a new shared goal, or discarded to trigger a special ability. This versatility packs a dense strategic experience into a simple 18-card wallet.
Setup and gameplay of a round in Converge: Catalysts of Change
Setup involves building an 18-card draw deck from the set's three factions (Archivists, Mechanists, and Alchemists), optionally mixed with other expansions from the Converge series. On their turn, a player chooses one of three uses for one of their cards: playing it to their own team to try to fulfill active goals, placing it in the center to create a new shared goal, or discarding it to activate its power, such as "Educate" for the Archivists, "Scavenge" for the Mechanists, or "Burn" for the Alchemists. The Artifact passes between players throughout the game, granting advantages to whoever holds it.
Victory conditions and end of game in Converge: Catalysts of Change
A round ends once the 18-card deck is exhausted. The player who has best fulfilled the active goals at that point takes control of the Artifact. The game is usually played over several rounds, and victory goes to the first player to control the Artifact under the conditions specified in the rulebook.
