On each turn, all players secretly choose two cards from their hand: one is placed on their board, and the other is set aside face down.
When you play a card, its effect is triggered, and all cards orthogonally adjacent to it are activated in turn, creating chain reactions on your board.
After scoring, players pass the remaining cards in their hand to the player on their left. On the next turn, you combine the cards received from the player on your right with the card you had set aside in your reserve, thus forming your new hand for that turn.
After 4 and 8 turns, hands are empty and players make a strategic choice: keep the card in their reserve and draw four new cards from the deck, or discard it and draw five new cards.
Over the course of 12 rounds, players build a complete board of 12 cards arranged in a 4×3 grid. Careful placement can turn a single card into a real source of points. The player with the most victory points wins the game.
Bear Necessities offers a calm, contemplative atmosphere, where every card placement involves important strategic decisions.
