The Hearthguards represent the epitome of dwarven warfare. Armed with an axe and a shield, the traditional weapons of Mounthaven, they are the last line of defense for the dwarven strongholds. Thus, they rarely engage in combat, but when they do, they exhibit a level of martial skill that is above what most of their enemies have ever witnessed.
With the beginning of the Last War, the Hearthguard were authorized to participate in Mounthaven’s offensive actions. These warriors are becoming a more common sight on the battlefield for this reason.
