One player controls the Axis forces (French colonial, Vichy and German troops), while the other commands the Allied forces (British, Australian and Free French forces). The Allied player will have to wage aggressive battles against a formidable defense. The Axis player, on the other hand, will have to use all available units to prevent the Allies from breaking through the fragile eggshell-like defense. What's more, both players have to contend with a lack of supplies that can halt an ill-prepared offensive or weaken an otherwise solid defensive position.
The game also contains 36 events that include historical aspects of the campaign such as Vichy destroyers or German paratroopers as well as Allied submarines or additional reinforcements thanks to an early end to the campaign in Iraq.
One player wins by capturing objectives, and the other tries to prevent it.
