La Grande Aventure du jeu de rôle, édition augmentée, an enriched, hardcover history of RPGs
La Grande Aventure du jeu de rôle, édition augmentée follows the original 2020 edition, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Imaginales festival in 2021, and releases in summer 2026 to mark the 50th anniversary of roleplaying games. Growing from 208 to approximately 240 pages, the book retraces the hobby's full history, from the origins of wargaming and the work of Gygax and Arneson to today's media explosion of Actual Plays and the influence of RPGs on film and television, passing through the 1980s golden age and the moral panic of the 1990s.
New interviews, a new foreword, and a hardcover binding
La Grande Aventure du jeu de rôle, édition augmentée adds two brand-new exclusive interviews with Ian Livingstone, co-founder of Games Workshop and author of the Fighting Fantasy series, and Chris Birch, founder of Modiphius. A new foreword by Damien Coltice joins the original foreword by writer Maxime Chattam. The book also moves from a softcover to a hardcover binding, featuring new cover art by Julien Delval.
