Old School Essentials (OSE) is the most faithful version of the classic game, which brings a reorganisation of the content and a modernisation of the presentation.

Recently, version 5 of the most mythical role-playing game, Dungeons & Dragons, was released. However, the "original" version is still very much alive. Of all the successive versions of the rules, the one that probably marks the history of the game the most is the Basic/Expert version, published in the early 80s, the famous "red box" written by Tom Moldavy.

Published from the beginning of the 80's until the middle of the 90's, it is the version that accompanied the "boom" of the JDR, allowed the creation of the community of players, and, beyond that, shaped the whole emerging geek culture, as well in the field of the board game, of the video game (XP, Levels, stats, etc...) as in the new relation to the imaginary that the game created.
