Drafting mechanics and culinary challenges
Mooncake Master (Cube Edition) is a drafting and pattern-building game where players act as apprentice bakers. The goal is to craft perfect mooncakes to meet the expectations of fussy customers during the Mid-Autumn Festival. This version fits entirely in a portable cube format, using high-quality square cards instead of traditional tiles. The core mechanic relies on a drafting system: each turn, players receive three cards representing mooncake quarters. They keep one and pass the remaining two to their neighbors. This system requires anticipating opponents' choices while optimizing one's own production to create consistent patterns.
Setup and gameplay flow
The game is played over three rounds. At the beginning of each round, players receive their initial cards. Once the drafting phase is complete, participants assemble their cards in front of them to form full mooncakes. The gameplay requires constant attention to the Customer cards on the table. These cards impose specific constraints on the final composition of the mooncakes, such as the exact number of egg yolks or ingredient combinations. Players must constantly adjust their strategy between crafting standard mooncakes and fulfilling special orders to maximize their prestige points. This edition natively includes rules for solo play, allowing for individual training.
Winning conditions and end of the game
The game ends after the third round. At this stage, players tally their festive points. These points are derived from the taste value of the assembled mooncakes, following pattern rules, as well as bonuses granted by satisfied Customer cards. Each successfully completed order provides extra points, while incomplete mooncakes or those failing to meet customer criteria limit the final total. The player with the highest number of points is crowned the Mooncake Master. In case of a tie, players share the title of master baker, validating their technical expertise.
