River Rivals, rival animal clans along a riverbank
River Rivals features animal clans (lynx, raccoons, birds) competing with paw swipes and beak jabs to claim the best fishing spots along a riverbank. The game is played by 2, with the battlefield divided into several sections of river where cards face off column by column.
Card placement and a power struggle
In River Rivals, players take turns playing animal cards into columns representing the river's sections. Each animal has its own strength value: if a player has three cards in a column whose total strength exceeds their opponent's on the opposite side, they capture the fish available in that section. Many cards trigger immediate effects, such as quick catches or claw attacks, adding tactical "take that" moments. The first player to catch eight fish wins the game.
River Rivals also includes an Advanced Mode featuring 18 additional equipment cards, offering permanent or one-time effects such as spring-loaded shoes for movement, picnic barricades for defense, or lucky greenery for tactical advantage.
