For generations, the wind has turned the great vanes of Crowe’s Hill Windmill, grinding grain, feeding the town, and standing as a symbol of quiet industry on the edge of the settlement. From distant roads its stark silhouette marks the boundary between the safety of Tollingchester and the dangers that lurk beyond.
In times of war, however, the mill becomes something else entirely. Its height makes it a natural watchtower. Its heavy base, a defensible strongpoint. Its surrounding fields, a deadly killing ground for advancing troops. Whether the battle is fought over grain stores, high ground, or sheer survival, the windmill becomes an objective no commander can afford to ignore.
