The player controls the rulers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and, incidentally, the German Central Staff, which exerts ever-greater control over its ally. The Austro-Hungarians face unique challenges as they try to survive the onslaught of the "Russian steamroller" and attempt to conquer the Serbs in the south. The mission will be complicated by the perseverance of these enemies, the difficulties of new fronts in Romania, the Balkans and the Italian border, and the difficulty of preventing the Empire's restive nationalities from revolting against Habsburg rule.
Hapsburg Eclipse is a large-scale action game. Each turn represents a few weeks. Each unit represents an allied front.
To win, you must survive until the end of the war, avoiding military disaster or the collapse of the nation's will to fight.
