Humans have not conquered the galaxy, but they are beginning to settle on nearby planets and exploit their resources.
On Earth, technology is everywhere and governs our society. Amidst this backdrop, the first people with psi powers appear. Out of a conservative or fearful reflex, the “norms” ostracize the psis. Players take on the role of these individuals or members of the security forces hunting them down.
But are psis evil forces?
Mutants hunted like animals, living in hiding? Discreet powers trying to rule the world?
It's up to the GM to decide.
The Antiques RPG collection publishes French-language role-playing games from the golden age of creative profusion in the 1980s, particularly games published by Fantasy Games Unlimited and its iconic founder, Scott Bizar.
Psi World is a fast-paced action and suspense game set in a world (perhaps Earth in the near future, perhaps not) slightly more advanced than current technologies. Regular shuttles serve space stations and lunar bases. Nearby planets and asteroids have been visited by manned probes.
Giant solar collectors harness energy from space to power an active society with highly advanced software and hardware technologies. But most importantly, major psionic powers have begun to manifest in certain individuals. Because of this development, society has fragmented.
The Norms (normals) view the Psis (psionics) with fear and disgust. The Psis are shunned and ostracized. They respond by banding together to ensure their safety and political power. The government, which is composed mostly of Norms, has created the Psi Police to monitor and regulate the criminal use of psionics.
All you need to play is paper, pencils, and a healthy dose of imagination.
Psi World offers over 75 different skills, 25 psionic disciplines, and over 90 specific psionic abilities for psionic characters.
The game master chooses the exact nature of the near-future society in which the game takes place, deciding whether Psis are an evil force and a threat to democratic institutions or whether the government uses Psis as scapegoats to allow it to assume greater and more dictatorial powers. Players take on the role of Psis or government security personnel, depending on the context chosen for your campaign.
