Relicblade: The Seeker's Handbook

Description

Relicblade: The Seeker's Handbook, the rulebook for the fantasy skirmish game Relicblade

Relicblade: The Seeker's Handbook is the core rulebook for the fantasy skirmish miniatures game Relicblade, created and illustrated by Sean Sutter (Metal King Studio). You lead a warband of champions through a dying world, in man-to-man tactical battles. The game runs on an action dice system: each character has a number of dice to spend to move, attack or use abilities, creating deep tactical choices. Its originality lies in combining a wargame with RPG-style progression, carried by the hand-drawn world and art style of its creator.

Setup and playing a game with Relicblade: The Seeker's Handbook

The book provides all the rules to play: initiative phase, activation phase, movement, basic actions, melee and ranged combat, then recovery phase. A game is played on a 2' x 2' board, with six-sided dice and your own miniatures. Beyond one-off games, the book details the "Wonders and Horrors" campaign: recruiting a warband, choosing an alignment (Advocate or Adversary), character progression through Heroic Traits, lasting injuries (Wound Traits), base building and recruiting specialists between games.

Scenarios, bestiary and end of game in Relicblade: The Seeker's Handbook

The book contains 12 scenarios (6 core scenarios and 6 "Uncharted" scenarios for 2 to 4 players), each with its own objectives beyond simple elimination. Four distinct environments — Cyclopean Ruins, Arid Badlands, Fay Forests and Dark Dungeons — bring treasures, random events and specific hazards. A bestiary with an automated monster behaviour system and a monster generator allow a wide variety of creatures to be created. In campaign play, progress is measured over the long term: accumulated treasures, your warband growing in power and your characters surviving from one game to the next.
