Unlike the core game, where two teams compete to get others to guess a word, Concept Stories brings all players together around a common goal: to piece together one of the 110 true and unusual stories included in the box. The goal is to understand—without saying a single word—the entire sequence of a surprising real-life event, using the universal icons on the game board.
The game’s originality lies in its three-part narrative: each story unfolds in successive stages, with a different player taking on the role of storyteller for each new part of the tale.
At the start of each round, a player draws a Story card and secretly reads the first part of the story to be guessed. They then place tokens to indicate the main concepts and cubes to specify the details on the icon board, without speaking or miming.
The other players observe these clues, make guesses, and ask questions that the storyteller can only answer with yes or no. Once this first part has been figured out, a new storyteller takes over to illustrate the rest of the story, building on the clues already placed by their predecessor.
The story is considered solved when all three successive parts have been correctly guessed by all players, who then reveal the full text of the true story on the back of the card.
Since the game is entirely cooperative, there are no losers in the strict sense: the game ends with the collective satisfaction of having unraveled the mystery of an anecdote that is as true as it is improbable, before moving on, if desired, to a new story to guess.
