Will you become the next Rex Britannorum?

Rex Britannorum is a strategy and placement game playable solo, with 2, or with 3 players. Victory is achieved by occupying roads and cities across the different regions of Britannia represented on the game board. In addition, each player has two personal objectives to complete, granting extra victory points.

The conquest of roads and cities is won by deploying troops wisely, in the right place and at the right time. There is no luck in combat resolution—only your sense of strategy can earn you the title of Rex Britannorum.

In 55 and 54 BC, Julius Caesar landed in the south of the island of Great Britain, then known as Britannia. This marked the beginning of the first power relations between Rome and the various Breton kingdoms. Many kings allied with Caesar either to survive or to benefit from Rome’s protection against hostile tribes—these were the first client kingdoms.

This system developed over the following century, so that by the time of the Roman invasion in 43 AD under Claudius, many client kingdoms were already well established. Among them, the Regnenses, the Brigantes, and the Iceni fought fiercely for supremacy. With Rome’s backing, each sought to claim the title of King of the Britons, in Latin: Rex Britannorum!
