Breizh 1341

Description

When the Game Meets History!

On April 30, 1341, Duke Jean III of Brittany died without an heir. His niece, Jeanne de Penthièvre, married to Charles de Blois, and Jean de Montfort, husband of Jeanne de Flandre and half-brother of Jean III, both laid claim to the ducal crown. In less than an hour, become the next Duke of Brittany!

The claimants initially sought a legal solution, but politics prevailed: the French peers favored Jeanne de Penthièvre, whose husband Charles de Blois was the nephew of King Philip VI of France. Meanwhile, Jean de Montfort and Jeanne de Flandre sought support from King Edward III of England. The Breton War of Succession then erupted, becoming one of the episodes of the Hundred Years’ War.

This struggle for the Duchy of Brittany would last more than twenty years.

The game is played over a series of turns, during which each side takes military and diplomatic actions in alternation, reflecting events of the 14th century.

Historical characters influence the course of the game. Players must rally nobles, recruit troops to lead them into battle, and lay siege to castles.

After many years of conflict, the player who controls the most territories, castles, and supporters becomes the new Duke of Brittany!
