Black Sonata: Strange Shadows, new modules to raise the stakes in the hunt for the Dark Lady
Black Sonata: Strange Shadows is aimed at players who have mastered the base game's patterns, in which a scholar tries to track down the mysterious "Dark Lady" from Shakespeare's sonnets in the London of 1600. Fully modular, the expansion lets you combine its components with the base game or the previous expansion.
Black Sonata: Strange Shadows adds the Darkest Ladies, new and more difficult Dark Lady cards; Indirections, two new types of stealth cards (a compass rose indicating a direction, or the color of the location); Blazonry, a heraldic puzzle where you must deduce the Lady's coat of arms; The Ferryman, adding the Thames as a fast but protected travel route; as well as Tarry cards and extra Fog cards that adjust the difficulty.
Cat and Mouse: a brand-new 1-versus-1 mode
Black Sonata: Strange Shadows introduces the Cat and Mouse module, which turns this traditionally solo game into an asymmetric two-player experience: one player takes on the role of the Dark Lady, actively trying to evade the Historian.
Black Sonata: Strange Shadows requires the base game to play and remains compatible with the first expansion, The Fair Youth.
