Bios: Megafauna starts where the previous game Bios: Genesis left off, with the colonization of the land in the early Phanerozoic.
Starting with a plant, mollusk, insect or vertebral skeleton, your carnivores and herbivores make a beachhead on one of the drifting Cambrian continental plates. Their struggle for earthly dominance may eventually involve an awakening of a linguistic consciousness. While the latter achievement has elevated a certain mammalian species to notoriety, in your game things may happen differently.
This second edition of Bios: Megafauna is part of the Bios game series. It plays well independently but if you have both games, you can let the final state of a Bios: Genesis game affect the starting state of a Bios: Megafauna game. A successor game, called Bios: Origins, covers the events of the Quaternary period, including the rise of ideas, concepts and technology.
