Minute Maestro! is a cooperative party game. The concert is about to begin, but the instruments and sheet music have disappeared: players, divided into teams of musicians, must improvise with whatever they have on hand, imitating sounds as unexpected as a cat, a plastic duck, or a blender.
The game’s originality lies in the role of the Maestro, played by a player tasked with listening to the cacophony produced simultaneously by all the teams to identify which sound corresponds to which score, and thus save the performance in front of an increasingly impatient audience.
Before each round, each team of musicians receives an Instrument card, indicating the everyday object to use to produce a specific sound, as well as a Score card describing the rhythm to follow.
At the given signal, all teams play their scores simultaneously, creating a joyful cacophony of overlapping sounds. The Maestro, who has previously listened to each instrument separately, must then determine which score corresponds to which team from among several possibilities, relying solely on their auditory memory and deductive reasoning.
Each time the Maestro makes a mistake in identifying the scores, part of the audience flees, represented by cards removed from the room. After three rounds have been played, the concert is considered a success if enough audience members have stayed until the end; otherwise, all players lose the game collectively.
