Clash of Steel - T-62 Company

Description

Clash of Steel an alternative history

The T-62 continued building upon the development of the T-54 tank and became the standard medium tank in the Soviet arsenal.

The continuing arms race between the Soviet Union and the west resulted in tank designs becoming more heavily armoured and mounting larger guns. As the T-54 shocked the west into developing the M48 and Centurion, these designs in turn forced Soviet designers to improve their tanks.

The T-62 mounted the world’s first smoothbore tank gun, giving it considerably greater muzzle velocity than the western 90mm and 105mm guns. It was also capable of firing the latest generation of armour piercing ammunition that allowed this medium tank to punch well above its weight.

Good Things Come In Small Packages:
The combination of improved armour, a larger gun, and a powerful engine resulted in a cramped crew compartment that, in addition to other factors, hindered the rate of fire of the 115mm gun when compared with western tank designs.

Infra-Red:
Unlike other Soviet designs, the T-62 was a capable night fighter thanks to infra-red lights and an infrared capable periscope for the commander.

This box contains:
  • 5x Highly Detailed Plastic T-62 Tanks
