In Cœurs du Wulin, players take on the roles of powerful heroes in a fantastical version of ancient China. Their characters perform all kinds of feats: they fight with skill, balance on rooftops and run on walls.

However, despite all their talents, these characters are weakened by their emotions: they are torn between filial piety, loyalty to their friends and the passionate feelings they harbour in secret.

Cœurs du Wulin tells classic wuxia stories, such as those you may have enjoyed in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Hero or The Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, as well as xianxia and court wuxia stories. Court wuxia places characters in a world of politics and factional intrigue, while xianxia adds supernatural elements to the story, such as demons, immortals, gods, and monsters. Each of these options comes with its own set of character booklets and rules to easily emulate the subgenre in question — it's like having three different games at your disposal!

Leap from rooftop to rooftop to catch a mysterious assassin and snatch the jewel that your beloved usually wears.
Investigate a series of poisonings within the intrigue-ridden imperial court, the first step that will lead you to uncover a conspiracy whose origins date back decades.
Pretend to be a weak and honest merchant with no connection to the crimes committed by the notorious bandit Silver Fox, whose ultimate goal is nothing less than to overthrow a corrupt governor.
Fight an epic duel against your former sworn brother, who killed your master and stole the legendary weapon he now wields against you.

Coeurs du Wulin est un jeu de rôle propulsé par l'apocalypse très simple à jouer et à maîtriser. Vous y incernerez des artistes martiaux qui sont mis face à des dilemmes moraux et/ou romantiques. En voici un exemple :
"Wei, mon rival, a juré de me tuer, mais j’ai promis à mon maître de ne pas lui faire de mal."
Les personnages essaient de s'en sortir au mieux, mais l'issue est souvent incertaine et l'histoire riche en rebondissements.

Pour ce qui est du cadrage, il est possible de jouer dans une ambiance Wuxia (celle par défaut) ou Xianxia (Fantastique) ou Cour (avec des intrigues et des complots pour avoir plus de pouvoir). Ces 3 cadres sont très bien construits, guident et accompagnent de manière efficace la fiction. Le soin apporté au gamedesign se ressent beaucoup. Ce jeu est vraiment une pépite.
