The Last Spell: The Board Game is a tactical cooperative tower defense game for 1–4 players, published by Tabula Games and adapted from the acclaimed rogue-lite video game of the same name.
Players join forces to defend the last bastion of humanity against hordes of monsters, while mages attempt to cast "The Last Spell" to banish magic forever.
How it plays: The game revolves around a day / night cycle:
- Day Phase (management & preparation): cooperatively, players spend shared resources (gold and materials) to build and repair walls, gates, and defenses, buy equipment at the shop, and assign heroes to the city's different sectors.
- Night Phase (tactical combat): monsters emerge from the mist and advance toward the magic circle at the city's center. Heroes use action points, mana, and defenses (ballistas, catapults…) to fend off the horde.
Victory / defeat conditions:
- Victory: survive the nights and defeat the final boss.
- Defeat: if a hero dies or if the monsters destroy the magic circle.
Key features:
- Fully cooperative: shared resources and essential coordination against the hordes.
- Rich and tactical: city management by day, intense combat by night.
- Faithful to the video game: the rogue-lite atmosphere adapted to the tabletop.
- Solo playable: 1 to 4 players.
