In the game you will find 4 types of characters: llamas, alpacas, goats and rams.
There are also magic cards, instant cards and upgrade and downgrade cards.
Playing certain cards only has an effect on certain types of characters, for example if you play an "Oatmeal Cookie" or a "Download More RAM".
In addition, there is a new mechanism called "Herd Bonus". If you have 3 characters of the same type in your stable (now called field) at the same time, you get a field advantage!
Think of it as an upgrade card, but without an upgrade in your stable. The effects of the advantage range from drawing extra cards to protecting your friends to stealing them. Be sure to strategize ahead of time - if you don't remember the herd bonus when you choose your baby animal, you might have a bad time!
Also, each of the instant cards in the deck (equivalent to the neighs you know) has an additional bonus that allows you to grab the card if it belongs to a specific type (for example, if you use the right neigh on a goat type card, you can add it to your hand instead of sending it to the discard pile!)
