The two-volume set contains the two main books in the Torchbearer series:

• The Adventurer’s Handbook: This book focuses on the characters. Character creation, abilities, nature, wisdoms, traits, skills, inventory, magic, progression, and level bonuses are described here. It also contains reference lists for equipment, skills, traits, spells, and summons. 275 pages, Half Letter format (140 × 216 mm)

• The Scholar’s Guide: This book describes the game mechanics. It explains how to start a session, how to assess the difficulty of skill checks, how to roll and assist each other, how to apply and alleviate conditions, how to participate in conflicts, and how to spend rewards to affect dice rolls. It provides procedures for players and GMs for camp and city phases. It also guides GMs in designing adventures and creating loot. Monsters, tips for GMs, and an adventure (“The Crypt of Skogenby’s Terror”) are also included in this volume.
