WWIII - M103 Heavy Tank Platoon

The M103 heavy tank was designed to counter Soviet heavy tanks, such as the later IS-series or the T-10, if a ground war in Europe broke out. Its long-ranged M58 120mm gun was designed to destroy enemy tanks at extreme ranges.

By the mid-1960s the M103s had been upgraded to the M103A2 model. It featured improved sights, stereoscopic rangefinder, and a ballistic computer. It also got same powerful diesel engine as the M60 tank, which increased its road range to 295 miles (480 km) and maximum speed to 23 mph (37 km/h).

The M103 was well armoured with front on line-of-sight armour on 10-inches (250mm) on its turret front and 5-inches (125mm) at 60 degrees on its hull front. Its powerful 120mm gun was capable of penetrating almost any heavy tank in service.
