The Battle of Khe Sanh, a crucial episode in the Vietnam War, took place from January to April 1968, when US Marines and allied forces defended the Khe Sanh combat base against a prolonged siege by North Vietnamese troops. Located near the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the base became the focal point of an intense conflict, marked by heavy artillery bombardments, ground assaults and air engagements. The siege, reminiscent of Dien Bien Phu, raised fears of a repeat scenario and strained American resources.
