Codenames

The rules

Codenames is a deduction game designed by Vlaada Chvátil and released in 2015. In this limited-communication game, two teams compete to identify their secret agents through linked words. Each team is led by a spymaster, and tries to find their agents among a grid of words. The spymasters give clues associated with several words, and their team must guess the right words without choosing those of the opponent or the dreaded assassin. Tension mounts as players try to avoid the traps and uncover the secret agents. Codenames is a family game that combines strategy, communication and intuition.
