Light in the Dark - Fires of Thokai: Cindermourns- Enemy Pack

Description

Light in the Dark - Cindermourns: Enemy Pack, winged predators that are nearly impossible to escape

Light in the Dark - Cindermourns: Enemy Pack is an expansion for *Fires of Thokaia*, part of the solo exploration game *Light in the Dark*, published by Archona Games. The objective of the game remains the same: heal the region of Thokaia and fend off its threats before a time marker reaches the end of the quest track. This pack introduces the Cindermourns, horned creatures resembling birds of prey that inhabit the coastal regions and cliffs of Thokaia.

What sets them apart are their unique predator mechanics: their claws pierce armor and inflict persistent damage; they are extremely difficult to avoid while exploring the terrain; and they become more powerful when hunting in packs—unlike the wolves, crimson bandits, or forest giants from the core game.

Pack Hunting and Armor Piercing

This expansion pack adds the Cindermourn cards and tokens to the enemy pool used with the narrative quests of Fires of Thokaia. In part, these creatures roam the terrain and appear more frequently as you explore, rather than remaining stationary on their starting tile.

Their ability to ignore part of the player’s defense and inflict damage that persists over time forces players to rethink their usual strategy, especially since their strength increases with the number of Cindermourns present on the field or near the hero.

An Additional Challenge Without Changing the Victory Conditions

The victory and end-of-game conditions remain those of Light in the Dark and its Fires of Thokaia expansion: the goal is still to complete your quests before time runs out.

When facing Cindermourns—from whom fleeing is rarely a viable option—it’s generally better to prioritize attack upgrades over speed upgrades and take the time to heal villages to accumulate resources before venturing into areas where these creatures are likely to appear.
