SILOS

Description

We are in the year glork-too-vleep, or the middle of the 20th century according to the Earth calendar. We recently discovered this planet called Earth and found intelligent, albeit primitive, life forms there. The most intelligent and valuable specimens are creatures known as cows. Unfortunately, to achieve our galactic goals, we must settle for the second most intelligent life form on Earth: humans. These creatures are just intelligent enough. Their brains seem ready to be molded, and their civilization is perfect for our silo.

The aliens have come to silo humans—to brainwash them, control them, and preserve their civilization—for their cosmic goals! Players compete for majority influence in key locations in this small town, seeking to activate the powers of the locations and control the human specimens to gain social power.

Players take turns repositioning their alien miniatures and activating an event card. The goal is to collect a complete set of humans: politicians, civil servants, influencers, and professionals. A complete collection allows the player to earn an emblem of social power, and the first player to obtain five emblems wins the game. Cows have a special value and therefore count as wild cards to form a complete collection.

SILOS is a remastered edition of Reiner Knizia's Municipium game that introduces many innovations:

  • Restructuring of player psychology through clear, public, and easy card counting
  • Increased gameplay variety and strategies through modular power tiles
  • Improved tactical considerations thanks to powerful leader figures
  • Expanded appeal of the theme and presentation thanks to whimsical illustrations of alien conspiracies by Kwanchai Moriya and Brigette Indelicato
  • Livened up production thanks to disguised alien miniatures, removable cows, and a wandering UFO
