A deadly virus discovered in the frozen lakes of Antarctica caused the first outbreak, which quickly spread across the globe.
The virus, known as “weeping death,” causes its host to produce an excess of vitreous humor that darkens and oozes from the victim's eyes and mouth. As the virus spreads through the host, it causes it to mutate, creating more and more diseased, darkened vitreous humor.
Infected individuals are initially not very contagious, but they quickly progress to a slower state of decay with a higher viral load and eventually mutate to the point of becoming unrecognizable.
In Hope is for the Dead, you play as a Haven trying to survive for two years. The gameplay is based on the award-winning Forbidden Psalm system. Each member of the Haven gains a flaw, an exploit, and equipment.
