A fearsome dragon threatens to reduce all the villages in the kingdom to ashes!

Fortunately, dragons are greedy: if you manage to bribe him with treasures found on the battlefield—such as a barbarian’s axe or a phoenix feather—you might convince him to spare your village. Unfortunately, other villagers in the kingdom have the same idea. Who will choose the best moment to offer their bribes so that their treasures are worth the most to the dragon by the end of the game?

More specifically, players hold a hand of Treasure cards that they can use to

1) bribe the dragon,

2) buy more Treasure cards on the black market,

3) draw a Treasure card. When they bribe the dragon, they place the cards in batches in front of them, increase the value of the token in the dragon’s favor, and distribute more cards to the black market.

If they choose instead to buy from the black market, they pay with their hand the number of cards indicated on a black market stall, take the cards from that stall into their hand, and lower a treasure in favor of the dragon that corresponds to one of the cards they used to buy their cards. The number of spaces a player moves their token up (when bribing the dragon) or down (when buying from the black market) corresponds to the number of cards played. If players do not wish to change the values in favor of the dragon or if they have no more cards, they may simply draw a card.

Please Don't Burn My Village! features a game-ending phase where players take a chance: each time a player bribes the dragon, cards are flipped over and placed on the black market spaces until a matching card or a wild card is revealed.

When no card is found and the deck is exhausted, the game ends, play stops, and players add the cards in their hands to the bribes corresponding to the cards they previously played. The player with the highest score wins, thereby saving their village from disaster.
