As they recover a kardastan envoy at the airport, the superheroes face refugees with powers they do not control. The Clash then sends them directly into Central Asia to learn more about the unexpected appearance of these powers in a very tense political and social climate. There, an occult strength fucks regional tensions and pushes the whole world to steer one's eye on a small country before a wave of attacks strikes leading cities, like Paris.
