Two Rooms, published by Jelly Jelly Games, is a cooperative card game designed exclusively for two players, featuring an original deduction mechanic. As a duo, the players take on the role of a team tasked with exploring a haunted mansion to rescue a young girl named Nina and put an end to the schemes of the vampire lord, Mant.
The game’s key innovation lies in a restriction on communication and vision: during their partner’s turn, players must keep their eyes closed. This rule forces players to develop absolute trust and a sharp memory, as neither has a constant overview of the state of the manor’s two rooms.
This immersive experience transforms a simple card game into a tactical challenge where reading each other’s intentions is essential to avoid being overwhelmed by the manor’s dangers.
Setup is quick, involving a deck of character cards with unique abilities and difficulty cards to adjust the challenge level. On each turn, players draw cards and place them in one of the two rooms, while remaining unaware of the other player’s actions.
Once actions are completed, the rooms are “opened” and the cards’ effects are triggered, revealing whether the shared strategy has paid off. Managing injured characters is crucial: if too many characters are neutralized by the mansion’s traps, the game is lost.
Since communication is deliberately limited, the game relies on a subtle interpretation of previous choices to coordinate future actions without revealing the location of key cards.
To win a game of Two Rooms, both players must successfully locate Nina while neutralizing the vampire lord using specific character combinations. Victory is a total team effort. If the draw pile runs out before these objectives are met, or if the injury counter reaches its limit, the mansion remains under the control of occult forces.
This game requires both composure and intuition, offering constant tension right up until the last card is played!
