The 7 deadly sins replace the 3 helper tokens during setup. Each sin gives you a powerful ability (gluttony gives you ink, lust allows you to move closer to the nearest player on the score track, wrath destroys a player's lectern, etc.).
Each deadly sin used causes you to lose illumination points at the end of the game... unless you make amends by offering your lectern and its power to another player.
The Scriptoria game becomes an Initiate game.
