Will you become the most renowned pirate in the buccaneering world? You'll work for it, sailor!
The Islands of the Cove.
The game consists of a board representing the islands of Pirate Cove, cards, ship cards, colored rings, navigation wheels, fame markers, doubloons, 50 real wooden treasure chests, and miniature ships.
At the start of the game, the 60 "Treasure" cards are shuffled and placed in a pile, face down, on the designated spaces in front of the 5 outer islands. Each player takes a ship of their color, the 4 rings and ship card that go with it, a navigation wheel, 9 gold coins, and a "Tavern" card taken from the "Tavern" pile, which, of course, will have been shuffled and placed face down on the appropriate space. The rings are placed on the ship cards. They indicate the levels of the ship's 4 characteristics. The black ship(s), the ships of the legendary pirates, are placed in their starting position.
And off sails the... pirate!+
