Since its victory in the Autumn War, the Winter Regime has imprisoned Faerieland in an icy prison. Driven by hatred and fear, Winter seeks to smother the last glimmers of hope beneath the snow, and to blow out the last flames of love with a chilling breeze. In the windy alleys and small houses that seem desperately clinging to the hillside, Tale Characters plot in the shadows, fearful but refusing to give up all hope for the future, preparing to chase Winter away and experience a new spring. Winter Tales is a storytelling game for 3 to 7 players. In each game, players recount the subtle but merciless war between the Tales Characters, heralds of hope and freedom, and the Winter Soldiers, who embody wickedness and oppression. Each player belongs to one of these factions and controls certain members, working either to bring back spring or to establish an eternal winter. Each game of Winter Tales is different from the others, as each game tells a new story based on a framework built and shared by the players in what is the first social storytelling board game.
