Questline, the real-time card game set in the World of Ulos
Questline is a real-time card game published by Thunderworks Games and designed by Marc-André Lavoie and Martin Lavoie. It is set in the World of Ulos, the same universe as Roll Player and Cartographers. At the Embermoot, a storytelling contest, players take on the role of adventurers trying to tell the most legendary hero's tale by assembling a sequence of 7 cards. Its originality lies in its simultaneous play and the final reading, where each player "tells" the adventure built over the course of the game.
How to play Questline
The game is played simultaneously, with no turns: all players draw, swap and discard at the same time. The goal is to build a hand of 7 cards forming an ascending numerical sequence (one Class card followed by 6 Adventure cards), while combining symbols as effectively as possible to score Reputation Stars (points). You can draw from the decks, your own discard pile or your opponents' — so you must watch what others throw away. As soon as a player is happy with their story, they call out the end and grab the best available Epilogue card.
End of game and scoring in Questline
The first to finish takes the most advantageous Epilogue, but finishing too early can leave "gaps" in the tale and cost points. The game ends when all players have finished (or the Epilogue cards run out). Each player then reveals their sequence, tallies their Reputation Stars — through symbols, the sequence and the Epilogue — and reads their story aloud. The player with the most Reputation Stars wins.
