In Hostage Negotiator: Crime Wave — a standalone expansion to the solitaire game Hostage Negotiator — each turn represents a conversation between you and a hostage taker. You play cards and roll dice to increase conversation points, decrease the threat level, and release hostages.

Hostage Negotiator: Crime Wave uses the same "hand-building" mechanism found in Hostage Negotiator that puts cards you purchase directly in your hand for next turn, but it features new Conversation Cards, new Terror Cards, new Pivotal Events, and all new Abductors — each with new rules and new demands! It can be played right out of the box and also expands the original Hostage Negotiator.

    Crime wave is the original hostage negotiator with the components dialed up to 11 and is best experienced together with the original game. 

    The theme is exceptionally strong and well presented. You are a negotiator, dealing with a hostage taker, trying to discover their demands, talk them down, and get the hostages out safely. 

    Strengths: Great theme, short play time, good variety, and expandable with many extra hostage takers. 
    Flaws: Dice heavy and luck heavy at times. Needs more than just what is in Crime wave to really shine. 

    Would best suit: A solo gamer who wants a good 10-20 minute play experience and doesn't mind luck playing a part in the game.

    Un très bon jeu pour ces moments où vous vous retrouvez seul et en avait marre de regarder un truc nul à la télé, ou de faire une Nième partie de jeux vidéo. Prenant, tendu et immersif, on se prend immédiatement d'affection pour ces petits meeples jaune qu'on ne veut surtout pas voir rejoindre la zone des "tués" ! Mais pour cela, il va falloir négocier dur ! Ça tombe bien, ce sera votre job dans Hostage Negotiator, un excellent solo.
