Not perfect but it scratches the 18xx itch.
18Lilliput is a very small game. It's entirely played with cards and doesn't use a map board like its bigger cousins.
Instead of having operating rounds and stock rounds like other 18xx games, it has a worker-placement-like action selection mechanism, which it uses to great effect.
The stocks come in 50% and 10% intervals, and there's only enough stock to make up 80%. This means The stock-market aspect of the game isn't as emphasised as it is in other 18xx titles. That being said, what little it offers does feel good and rewarding.
The game also features a "train pool" system, where old trains go before they get fully scrapped. The train pool lets players buy new trains for cheap to get their companies up and running, which overall means it's less punishing.
As some hardcore 18xx'ers have said, it's more of a eurogame with 18xx flavour than it is a full-blown hardcore 18xx. But it's small and quick and it gets the feel across nicely.
