The City (Die Stadt) is a new version of Carcassonne. It was released at the 2004 Essen Game Fair.
Die Stadt is not an expansion but a standalone game. The game comes in a wooden box.
In this edition, players build the city of Carcassonne itself, with its ramparts, districts, etc.
The general principles of Carcassonne are retained, but the game introduces some new features, both in terms of components and mechanics:
The wall and tower tokens (whose pieces are made of wood like the box) allow players to limit the city's expansion and score points (for players placing tokens on towers). Once the city is completely surrounded by walls, the game ends.
Roads become streets, fields become districts, and towns become markets.
Second-hand game - good condition. In German.
