Recruit the best craftsmen to receive the Shogun's favors and prevail over neighboring villages. A game consists of 12 rounds, each comprising 3 distinct phases that are played simultaneously:
1 – Dawn: Assign roles. Secretly choose the role of each of your 5 Artisans in your hand (1 resident, 2 travelers, 2 manufacturers).
2 – Day: Village management. Reveal your Artisan cards and trigger their effects according to their role, then manage your village.
Use the items you have obtained to prepare offerings and send your artisans to the Shogun's palace. Each artisan you send will bring you favors at the end of the game.
3 – Dusk: End of the turn. Check if you have fulfilled the Shogun's whims for that day, and score additional favors.
Some artisans can earn you additional favors during the game if their conditions are met.
The player with the most favors at the end of the game wins. The multitude of possible effects and the various dilemmas (keep vs. give, produce vs. keep, send to the Shogun vs. take advantage of power, etc.) offer a rich strategic gaming experience.
