Rotation Rumble: Trash & Tiaras

Description

Rotation Rumble: Trash & Tiaras, Two Captains in a Rotating Card Duel

Rotation Rumble: Trash & Tiaras is a two-player card battle game in which each player takes on the role of a guild coach leading their mercenaries into battle. The goal is to accumulate victory points by winning successive battles against your opponent. The core mechanic revolves around rotating square cards: each side offers a different action, requiring players to anticipate the best orientation for their fighters depending on the stage of the game.

The game’s universe features battles fought for money, glory, and—with a playful nod—slices of cheesecake. This Trash & Tiaras set features two captains with opposing styles: Mett, a raccoon whose power increases with the size of his discard pile, and Lorana, a noble figure whose strategy relies on accumulating gold. This contrast between scavenging trash and unabashed wealth is the set’s main point of originality.

Discard Pile, Gold, and Combos

Setup involves choosing one of the two captains, Mett or Lorana, then setting up your playing area with your mercenary cards and support cards. On their turn, a player plays or rotates their cards to activate the action corresponding to their orientation—whether that’s attacking, defending, or generating a resource.

Mett’s faction encourages players to quickly fill their discard pile to gain increasing power bonuses, while Lorana’s faction pushes players to accumulate gold to strengthen their nobles—even if it means occasionally sacrificing one of them for a tactical advantage. The game’s compact format and small number of cards allow for quick, back-to-back turns.

Victory Points and the Outcome of the Mercenary Battle

The game ends when one of the two players reaches the number of victory points needed to win, which is achieved by winning successive rounds or by leveraging the synergies specific to their captain.

With Mett, a well-stocked discard pile allows him to unleash increasingly powerful attacks, while with Lorana, accumulating gold results in a gradual increase in her nobles’ power. Since all decks in the Rotation Rumble series are compatible with one another, Trash & Tiaras can also be combined with other sets to vary the endgame scenarios.
