In Tanto Monta: The Rise of Ferdinand and Isabella, each player must reach 45VP to win over a maximum of 7 turns. Players play cards for their event or to perform actions from a list of options available for each power and at a specific cost for each action. VPs are earned either through military objectives, discoveries of new areas, trade, royal marriages or certain events.

Each turn, the 4 players alternate cards, and so on until the end of the turn. Battles are resolved by dice rolls, possibly supported by combat cards and taking into account the type of unit involved.
